For generations, believers and nonbelievers have pondered the age-old subject of whether or not the Bible states that the Earth is flat. Ancient texts have also been interpreted differently as our scientific knowledge of the Earth's form has progressed. Some contend that verses in the Bible suggest a flat Earth, while others view these references as metaphorical or poetic allusions. In order to determine if some biblical verses lend credence to the idea of a flat Earth or show a more complex view of reality, this article explores their historical and theological settings.
